The Ghost Army

...or how a bunch of artists used deception, art & ingenuity to help win World War II.

In 1944 a bunch of art students were recruited into the US Army's 603 Camouflage Engineers battalion.  They were given dummy tanks, fake uniforms, sound effects and went on missions of deception.  When it was all over, it was estimated they saved between 12,000 - 40,000 allied troops without  ever firing a shot.  They also sketched their way across the war-torn continent. This unique exhibition tells their story
